Current
exhibitions at Matt’s Gallery By appointment only, a year long exhibition by David Osbaldeston will be showing at Matt’s Gallery (Office) from 1 October 2008 to 30 September 2009. New work will be showcased alongside older work from the 1970s and 1980s in Susan Hiller's Proposals and Demonstrations at Timothy Taylor Gallery, London. The exhibition will be her second at the gallery and will run from 30 October—20 December 2008.
Made in China, a video installation created by Melanie Jackson for Matt’s Gallery in 2005, will be shown in The Intertwining Line—Drawing as Subversive Art at Cornerhouse from 7 November until 11 January 2009. The exhibition will explore early and contemporary animation and its intertwined relationship with contemporary drawing. Climbing Around My Room by Lucy Gunning will be shown as part of a symposium entitled Conceptual Art From California at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, from 11–23 November 2008.
Imogen Stidworthy and Paul Rooney have been shortlisted for the Northern Art Prize 2008. An exhibition of shortlisted artists’ work will show at Leeds Art Gallery from 21 November 2008 until 1 February 2009. The winner will be announced on 15 January 2009. Paul Rooney is also taking part in the group exhibition The Fifth Floor: Ideas Taking Space at Tate Liverpool to mark the end of Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture. The exhibition will run from 16 December–1 February 2009. Matthew Tickle will take part in a group exhibition entitled RU(techne)TH(episteme)8? at Hats Plus in Kings Cross, London on 27 November 2008.

exhibitions and events continued An exhibition of black and white photographs of Belfast by Willie Doherty can be seen at the third space, belfast until 14th November.
Roy Voss will be exhibiting as part of Farmers' Market, a project organised by Handel Street Projects. The Market will take place at 72 Wigmore Street, London W1 from 12 November until 20 December 2008 Nathaniel Mellors will be showing new work in Rijksakademie Open Studios, Amsterdam from 28–30 November 2008. An exhibition of work by Jordan Baseman entitled Inside Man will be showing at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, University of Wales from 15 November to 24 January 2009.
Work made by Jordan Baseman, commissioned by Animate Projects as part of their Stop. Watch. project can now be seen on their website. An exhibition of Juan Cruz's work will be showing at Galeria Elba Benitez, Madrid from 22 November, continuing into January 2009. The Royal Academy of Arts presents Ape by Gary
Stevens 16 November to
5 December, in which three performers are linked by the
rule of copying one another's behaviour. Lindsay
Seers will also be
performing at the Royal Academy of Arts as part of Event
Horizon on

Hayley Newman's work Volcano Lady in part of an exhibition entitled Smoke at the Pump House Gallery, Battersea Park from 5 October–15 December. A double sided print of this work is included in Matt’s Gallery’s first print portfolio. New work by Mike Nelson can be seen in Reality Check, a major exhibition at the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen, open to the public 6 September–4 January 2009. The Imperial War Museum is showing Theatre, a work by Graham Fagen, in a group show entitled Breakthrough, which is a major re-hang of the museum's collection of British art. The show will continue until 31st December 2008.

and Editions
Hayley Newman’s new publication MKVH (Milton Keynes Vertical Horizontal) The Screenplay acts as both a documents and a script to a performance commissioned by the Milton Keynes Gallery in 2006 during which a bus of volunteer passengers was driven around Milton Keynes’ grid system until it ran out of petrol. The book can be purchased from Cornerhouse.
To accompany his exhibition Pine at Matt’s Gallery 10 September–02 November, Roy Voss has produced an editioned lino cut print.
