Call For Participants - UNSUNG SONGS by Silvia Ziranek
Matt’s Gallery and Silvia Ziranek are looking for women aged 18 and over living and working in or connected to Wandsworth to take part in a series of workshops leading to a recording session, a public performance in Wandsworth, and the production of a vinyl record.
We are looking for bold and sensitive women who want to take part in UNSUNG SONGS, a creative project culminating in a performance and the production of a pink vinyl record. The 'songs' take the form of spoken word; participants will read the words aloud but no actual singing is required.
We are hosting a series of trial workshops which will allow you to explore the material, try out some voice exercises, meet the artist and for participants to be selected. These are free to attend with no commitment at all. Following on from the workshops, a group of women will be invited to participate in the final recording and performance of the songs.
We hope the sessions will build confidence and provide a safe and comfortable environment for women to come together to meet people, relax and make friends. Sharing is welcome but we respect your right to keep your private and personal history private and personal.
Participation is voluntary though travel costs can be covered. There is no on-site parking, but the centre is well served by the P5 bus.
Dates and Times
Group workshop sessions and rehearsals are kindly hosted by the R.O.S.E Community Clubroom, Ascalon Street, Battersea, London SW8 4DL Click for map.
Please note that sessions will start promptly.
We recommend attending one workshop only. Participants do not need to be available for all three trial sessions.
Friday 12 April 2019 - 10am - 12pm
The project will then run across 4 weekly rehearsal sessions from late April to May, with recording planned for early June.
Crêche facilities are available for children up to 8 years old, and light refreshments will be served. If you wish to use the crêche facilities, please arrive ten minutes before the start of the session.
