Jonathan Harvey OBE
1949-2023
As you may have seen, Acme put out a statement today announcing the sad news of the death of Jonathan Harvey OBE on 4 September 2023 at the age of 74.
Along with David Panton OBE, Jonathan was Co-Founder and former Chief Executive of Acme, and a dear friend. I knew them both since the beginning of Acme in 1972. I remember fondly joining the Acme cricket team that same year.
Their live-work model changed the landscape for artists in London, and Matt's Gallery was housed in an Acme studio on Copperfield Road, Mile End, from 1991 to 2016. Those were formative years for Matt's Gallery and the provision of affordable space from Acme made it possible.
Jonathan will be much missed.
