Jordan Baseman

Memorial Gestures Residency with the Holocaust Centre North

Jordan Baseman has been selected as one of three artists taking part in the Holocaust Centre North's inaugural Memorial Gestures Residency Programme, supported by the Iby Knill Bursaries.

The Memorial Gestures Residency Programme will support three artists in self-directed research on the Holocaust Centre North Archive and its survivor community. The Holocaust Centre North cares for the collections of 90+ Jewish refugees/families who made their lives in the North of England.

Jordan is a visual artist and filmmaker. He has a long history of creating projects in collaboration with UK-based and international, not-for-profit and public institutions. The artworks include installations, audio works, and single-screen films.

For his residency, Jordan will be interviewing Holocaust Survivors and their children, alongside research into the Holocaust Centre North's collections - which includes photographs, letters, legal documents, artefacts, textiles, ephemera & postcards as well as an extensive collection of video & audio testimony with Holocaust survivors and their families.

Jordan's residency will culminate in an exhibition and presentation of his research in the North of England in May.
