'The Hanging Baskets of Bodmin' at Bodmin General Station, for Flamm 2026
As part of Flamm 2026 in Bodmin, Cornwall, Nicola Bealing's new commission 'The Hanging Baskets of Bodmin', colonised the platform of Bodmin General Station.
An invasion of ghostly hanging baskets transformed the platform at Bodmin General into a surreal, unsettling landscape. Expanding the station’s usual eight baskets to around fifty, each overflowed with pale paper cut-outs of plants, animals and human forms. Suspended overhead, they disrupted sightlines and movement, creating a playful yet disconcerting 'glitch' in the everyday, where familiar station décor tips into something uncanny and unexpected.
Flamm is a visual art-led event that brings internationally and nationally important work to Cornwall, enables ambitious new work by locally-based artists and engages communities and visitors in its multi-layered programme. You can read more about the festival here.
