Paintings from Nicola Bealing's The Borough are featured in Group Portrait, open now at Phillida Reid.
Group Portrait brings together work by artists, where depiction of the self, of those close, imagined, memorialised, even absent, is central to the works’ realisation and form. The grouping co-situates maker and subject, evoking the individuality as well as multiplicity of presence; of attachments and associations within the act of portrayal and exhibition-making.

Bealing's works come from her suite of paintings, The Borough, which formed the second half of a two-part exhibition at Matt's Gallery earlier this year.
Group Portrait also features works by Hany Armanious, Lea Cetera, Ann Craven, Celia Hempton, Claudia Kogachi, Olu Ogunnaike, Campbell, Patterson, Joanna Piotrowska, Mohammed Z. Rahman, Prem Sahib, Ebun, Sodipo, Edward Thomsson and Bedwyr Williams.
The show runs until 23 September 2023, Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 6pm
