Alison Turnbull

in Sorting Britain: The Power Of Postcodes at The Postal Museum

Alison Turnbull is featured in Sorting Britain: The Power of Postcodes at The Postal Museum. This exhibition celebrates the story of a postal innovation that changed life in Britain. From the price of your house to range of health care you can access, postcodes impact people daily. They developed in the mid-20th century to help sort and process the post. Since then, they have become much more than that.

The exhibition delves into the Post Office innovation that revolutionised how post was processed, sorted, and delivered and its unintended outcomes for life in Britain. Alison Turnbull, has been commissioned to create a response to the exhibition’s themes. She has worked in the archives, investigating the printed and hand-coloured maps in the collection, and created a new group of works on paper to accompany the exhibition.

Exhibition continues 30 March 2022 - 01 January 2023 at The Postal Museum, London. Full details and booking on The Postal Museum website.
