This special photographic edition has been produced by the artist in collaboration with Matt’s Gallery and Kerlin Gallery to raise funds in support of the artist’s forthcoming exhibition Remnant at Matt’s Gallery in April 2025.

This is a chance to own a significant new work by Doherty at an accessible price point. The print is domestically scaled and produced in an edition of only 20 copies, supplied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

Matt’s Gallery has 10 even-numbered editions of the print to sell with all proceeds going directly towards supporting the development and delivery of Doherty’s exhibition.

An unsettled, uneasy sense of place pervades Willie Doherty’s continuing engagement with the borderlands of Ireland and beyond. The rigorous composition of Dead End is restrained; the visibility of disturbances, small details, and residues constrained by the pervading fog and limited by the resolution of the photograph itself. Dead End explores how landscape acts as a repository of memory, the countless ways time can leave traces of past events, and time’s steady erasure of such traces.
