The Social Body Mind Meta-Map grows out of a pedagogical exercise and way of conceiving of an artwork as emerging from various tributaries of four major categories: capacities, motivations, resources, organisations. It is a notion of artistic production determined by multiple non-personal embodied and environmental factors operating at different levels of the embodied, the psychological, the intersubjective and the social. Where an individual artwork actually comes from is both a question of material factors and somewhat of an enigma, and it is only retrospectively that we tend to pin its meaning and origin down.

The print was originally made for Kenning’s exhibition Where It Was at Piper Keys (in Raven Row).

Each print is signed on the front by the artist.
